Ballard Nature Center is always a beautiful place for photos no matter what time of year.
Such a special session with this wonderful mother and her son who traveled down from Chicago. They were both such a pleasure to photograph. Let me just say there were a few ups and downs with this session, but all three of us came out of it smiling in the end. Mosquitos, Ear Infections, Lost Files, you name it, it happened....but we prevailed.
Yeah, I'm a little late posting about Easter portraits, but better late than never right? I decided last year I would take a portrait of each family member every Easter, and try a new processing. So far so good, two years in now. I realized while putting this together that my husband had to work on Easter so I didn't get his portrait. I planned on getting it the next day, but apparently I didn't, but I could've swore I did!!! I will have to drag him out to the location soon. I'm sure he'll be thrilled....
It's interesting to see how we do or don't change. Obviously the kids change the most, but us adult change a little too. Hopefully I can keep doing it and I'm sure the results in a few years will be really interesting.
What a year it has been, with lots of trials and tribulations, and let me tell you, it didn't let up, even as the New Year rolled around. Hoping 2014 takes it a bit easier on me. Thank goodness for photography. It keeps me sane. This blog post is a doozy!!! I'll be impressed if you actually make it to the bottom, and I might just love you a little bit too.
Here goes......Originally I was just going to do a Favorites of 2013, but the photos are all my babies and it became too hard to choose, so I separated it into two blog posts, Clients and Personal. First up, Clients!!
I would like to thank each and every one of you for the chance to get to know you and your family and basically stalk you for an hour or so. It's unsettling to get your photograph taken, but I hope I made the process as painless as possible. Thank you, thank you, thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
First up...a beautiful session in my husbands hometown, Summerside, PEI. He went to school with these two amazing parents. Little known fact: This family owns the largest, furriest cat you'll ever see.
It was cold, but at least I got to keep my coat on! Sorry guys, you were such troopers and I love these images so much. You trusted me and let me do my thing.
What a cool idea this was and I have no claim on it. I just executed. Paying tribute to their family and the history they all share.
Komentucky Derby!!!! Great hats, cocktails and lots of fun, enough said.
A small intimate wedding. Such a down to earth and welcoming couple, and funny too! Not every bride will suck a rose petal to her nose and let you take her photo!
A family session at His Glories Farm and the sunset at the end of it was truly Glorious!! Love being able to talk plants and mulch, so yeah, the perfect family. :-)
A very sweet newborn. I've photographed this family many times now and each time is a pleasure. They're the loveliest of people and yeah, not too shabby to look at right? I'm thinking magazine work could be in their future?
A commercial shoot for the Illinois Farmers Union. I really enjoy doing commercial work, soooooo, I'm just putting that out there people. Hit me up.
A surprise photo session for dad/grandpa with the kids and grandkids. He was tickled to say the least.
A senior session for an exceptionally good looking, good hearted kid. Oh, and did I mention he's an amazing athlete? Yep, that too.
A vineyard wedding in Southern Illinois. What a fun, laid back day. Their outside wedding got rained out, but they didn't bat an eye! And in my book, that makes them good people from the very beginning. It only got better after that.
Ahhh, what can I say about this family? Not enough...I think they're the bee's knees. Happy, stress free, funny, loving, and their dog is awesome!
Yep, you've already seen this face. Remember what I said about athletic?
...and you've seen these faces too! A quick Christmas shoot.
DC Vote with a beautiful model. You're way too good for Montgomery Ward Joanna. A few shenanigans were in order while shooting and Jesse didn't disappoint.
She said us meeting was serendipitous. I couldn't agree more. Last minute session out in the snow. Perfection.
